Its beach holds a remarkable trace of the past: dinosaur footprints, found in 2014 and authenticated in 2017 by a study in the Journal of African Earth Sciences, dating back about 85 million years. They include tracks of theropods, the meat-eating dinosaurs, and a life-size sculpture points the site out to passing drivers.
The slabs are being worn away by the waves, so if you visit, look without walking on them. In 2025 more footprints were spotted on the Taghazout coast, geologically linked to those at Anza.
