Driving from Agadir to Marrakech
Agadir and Marrakech are linked by a motorway that heads north-east through the High Atlas. From central Agadir, allow about 250 km and three hours’ driving without traffic. The Marrakech–Agadir section, about 230 km long, was completed in June 2010 and is part of the 429 km motorway that continues to Casablanca.
It is a toll motorway run by Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM): there is a toll station at Amskroud, and prices are shown at the barriers. On the way, the road passes Argana, Imintanoute and Chichaoua, goes through the 546-metre Zaouiat Ait Mellal tunnel and has four rest areas. A toll-free national road is still an option, but slower.
Renting in Agadir and returning the car in Marrakech saves the drive back: enjoy the coast, then finish your stay in Marrakech. It works the other way round too, with the car delivered to you in Marrakech for the drive down to the ocean.
